Expert Witness ServicesOur clients occasionally need legal support services for projects involving environmental and water rights issues. PGG offers a variety of hydrogeologic services related to litigation, including expert witness testimony, expert opinion, affidavits, and depositions. Client: Chlor-Alkali Plant Site PGG provided expert opinions in litigation that involved allocating liability for mercury contamination under MTCA. To develop opinions about the source and time of contamination, we assessed fate-and-transport pathways and possible contaminant loading in a variety of media: sediment, soil, groundwater, surface water, and air. We also calculated mercury half-lives in sediment and evaluated transport mechanisms in air, soils, and groundwater. Client: PGG provided expert opinion in a contested marsh restoration project under the Clean Water Act. We reviewed existing data, gathering information about the site’s fill history, to assess existing geologic, soil, groundwater flow, and chemical conditions. This information also helped us evaluate possible impacts related to changes in flow caused by the wetland restoration. Although the marsh was located near a contaminated site, we concluded that it had not been impacted by the contamination, nor was it likely to be impacted in the future. The project was approved in part due to our work. Client: Former UST property owner PGG provided expert consulting in a lawsuit against
the owner of property that once contained USTs. This property was located
in a highly industrial area, where we had investigated and understood
the environmental conditions. Our review of the groundwater flow and chemistry
data showed that the contamination could have originated from various
sources. We also proposed a remedy for the contamination. |
